Patient Consent
Medical history made available for research
At the Insel Group, besides clinical studies, research projects are also being carried out using data and so-called "residual material" (residual biological material such as blood, urine, tissue samples, which remain after diagnostic investigation and treatment). Even though there have been great advances made in biomedical research in the last decades, there are still numerous areas in which the knowledge about the causes, the detection and the treatment of diseases can be further improved. Numerous research projects are only feasible, if biological material and health data are available. In order to use this data and biological material from diagnostic investigation and treatment for research, the patient's consent is required.
